Jeans are a piece iconic who accompanies us to daily... It's difficult (if not impossible) to do without it, as it is such an integral part of our culture!
Trendy and stylish, it comes in a thousand different ways. Cuts, colors, materials... We're spoiled for choice!
Unfortunately, its production is extremely polluting And harmful to the environment... Opting for second-hand is, therefore, a very nice gesture for the planet (and your wallet).
But others brands are committed and innovate to offer us a new way of consuming fashion! We hope, through this new series of meetings, to present you with great initiatives and help you discover our favorites 💛
For this special "jeans" week, we are pleased to present to you YOKOW, an eco-responsible jeans brand founded by Camille Trivun.
▶︎ How did you come up with the idea to create Yokow? Why did you create this eco-friendly jeans brand?
My primary goal is to develop designs that fit as many people as possible (all body types), both women and men. Comfort and well-being are paramount.
A real work of fine-tuning over several months (6 to 9 months) is carried out, I bring together groups of people from real life (not cabin mannequins).
YOKOW truly wants to be free from trends, leaving room for beautiful cuts and comfort for everyone.
I don't want YOKOW to fall into the "FASHION" category; I would say that a pair of YOKOW jeans is a "temperament," a base from which you create your look of the day. In YOKOW, you assert yourself or reveal yourself.
I created YOKOW to offer small series of models that remain permanent in the collection.
Let me explain: the idea is not to overproduce but to produce reasonably, then to gradually re-stock, depending on the success of each model.
YOKOW only offers raw jeans Or with simple rinsing or to the eco-friendly washing alternatives, in order not to overconsume water, not to use chemical products.
▶︎ What values/commitments do you advocate through Yokow? What do you think constitutes better fashion consumption?
1/ Avoid and reduce excessive water consumption. Do not use chemicals during the washing process. To find out more, visit here !
2/ The packaging is designed to avoid using polybags (used in textiles) when sending between my manufacturer and my distribution points. I opted for this solution !
▶︎ Personally, do you buy second-hand goods? Why?
Personally, I've been consuming much, much less over the past eight years. When I do buy without thinking and on impulse, it's second-hand.
I like knowing that the product has had another life (emotionally) and I am also very happy not to have bought a new model for the aesthetic aspect. I am always so happy to make nice finds.
The rare times I buy something new, it's mostly shoes (and sometimes a bit of ready-to-wear).But, I think about it for several weeks before making the purchase, which allows me to know if it is a real need.
▶︎ What advice would you give to people who would like to change their habits and their consumption patterns (fashion)?
1/ Ask yourself in advance, several days before buying, to find out if it is a real need.
2/ Question the manufacturing of the product.
3/ Know who is behind the product (large group, small creator; the approach is not the same).
4/ Go and discover second-hand shops (specialized by style), you can find wonders there!
▶︎ What daily actions and habits have you adopted to contribute to preserving the environment?
1/ Pick up waste in nature, pass this activity on to my children.
2/ Mend my socks.
3/ Bike bike bike (cargo) with my children every day. I use the car when I need to transport large volumes, for long distances or in stormy weather!
4/ For the rest, we have been growing our vegetables as a family for a long time and we have been looking for alternatives to packaging.
